The Ecker Lab, aka ‘smart polymers for biomedical applications’ lab, started with two graduate students in the fall semester of 2019. Since then, we have grown constantly.

Dr. Ecker is the principal investigator of this lab. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Texas.

The research interests of our lab lie in polymer science and biomedical engineering. We actively combine both fields to develop biomedical devices, such as:

  • conformal and biocompatible neural devices to study the electrophysiology of the enteric nervous system
  • responsive polymeric biomaterials for wound healing and
  • shape memory polymer bandages to prevent of Colonic Anastomotic Leak.
